KATHMANDU: Global technology leader, Xiaomi, has announced its official entry into the Nepal market to strengthen its presence and extend more local support to the market.
The company also announced the launch of Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A handsets in Nepal.
The Redmi 6 sports the latest Helio P22 octa-core SoC that uses an ultra-efficient 12nm processor, which consumes about 48 per cent less power than comparable 28nm chipsets. It pairs a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 up to 2.0GHz with an IMG PowerVR GE-class GPU. Redmi 6 has a 5.45-inch 18:9 full screen display with an HD+ resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels.
On the other hand, the Redmi 6A is the successor to Redmi 5A, being the best-selling Android phone globally in the first quarter of 2018, according to Counterpoint Research. Redmi 6A adopts a similar design language and screen as Redmi 6. It sports the Helio A22 SoC which makes Redmi 6A the only smartphone in this segment with a 12nm processor. Redmi 6A’s 3000mAh all-day battery allows the phone to stay in standby mode for up to nine days. Meanwhile, the Mi A2 comes with a trio of Sony image sensors, including a 20MP Sony IMX376 front camera and a 12MP + 20MP AI dual camera setup — one of the most powerful setups in this segment.
Another unique feature on Mi A2 is manual selection of the rear lens — the 20MP or 12MP rear camera, according to environment lighting. Likewise, the Mi A2 Lite is one of the first Android One devices to feature a unique 19:9 display. This 5.84-inch FHD+ full screen display is housed in a relatively compact body, making it very convenient for one-handed use.
The screen also comes with useful features such as auto contrast, reading mode and night mode. The Redmi 6 comes in 3GB+32GB and 3GB+64GB variants and are priced at Rs 16,499 and Rs 18,499, respectively and are available in gold, black and blue colours. Redmi 6A comes in 2GB+16GB and three colours — gold, black and blue — for Rs 12,999.
Mi A2 comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM in black, gold and blue colours in Nepal at a price of Rs 30,999. Mi A2 Lite will be available at 3GB+32GB for Rs 20,999 and 4GB+64GB for Rs 24,499. All four products will be available from September 30.
