LALITPUR: Following Kyrgyzstan’s victory over Uzbekistan in the final of the AVC Asian Senior Men’s Central Zone Volleyball Championship at the Nepali Army Sports Complex covered hall, a member of the management team brought down trophies — which were placed on a table — to the floor while he was laying red carpet for the guests.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel and Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Bahadur Sunar were among the guests of the closing ceremony.
The support staff of the management team mistakenly hit the table with his back on his way to laying down red carpet for the guests and the trophies broke down to pieces. But the organisers were quick enough to fix the trophies, albeit temporarily before the guests handed over the prizes to the top three teams.
