Kathmandu, March 28
Triton and Kathmandu University advanced to the semi-finals of the Golden Gate College Cricket League here at the TU Stadium today.
Triton defeated Orchid College by 44 runs to make it to the last four as Group A winners. Batting first, Triton posted 142-5 in their allotted 20 overs before restricting Orchid to 98-9.
Man-of-the-match Adil Khan top scored for Triton with 49 off 36 balls that included four fours and a six, while Pradeep Airee struck four boundaries in his 48-ball 37. The duo revived Triton innings with a 74-run partnership for the third wicket after they were reduced to 17-2 at one stage.
Binod Bhandari scored 11 runs, while Bikram Sob remained unbeaten on 11 and Arun Airee scored nine not out. Bigyan Gautam took two wickets for Orchid, while Chandra Kanta Paudel and Bijay Bista claimed one each.
In reply, Pravesh Khadka top scored for Orchid with 25 runs, while Deepak Bohara and Mahesh Khatri contributed 13 runs each. Triton used all 11 players in bowling and seven of them took one wicket each.
In another match, KU beat Tri-Chandra College by 19 runs.
Batting first, KU scored 152-3 in 20 overs, while Tri-Chandra were all out for 124 with three balls to spare.
Opener Rabin Joshi scored 28- ball 29 hitting three fours and a six, while another opener Prabin Rijal completed his second half century of the tournament scoring 51 off 49 balls that included four fours and a six.
Rijal, who shared a 50-run opening partnership with Joshi, added 60 runs for the third wicket with skipper Ishan Pandey, who struck four fours and a six in his quick fire 47 off 30 balls. Sonu Devkota chipped in with 16 runs. Dilip Nath took all three KU wickets.
In reply, Tri-Chandra were on course at 76-2 before faltering in the latter stage. Puran BK top scored with 47 off 40 balls hitting four boundaries and a six, while Prajwal Shahi struck three fours and two sixes in his 25-ball 33.
Rupesh Shrivastav was the pick of the KU bowlers taking four wickets, while man-of-the-match Ishan Pandey and Sagar Sharma claimed two each.
A total of 12 teams are taking part in the tournament organised by University Cricket Club. Top two teams will receive Rs 222,222 and Rs 111,111 respectively.
