Kathmandu, June 18
Grassroots Futsal Academy is organising the second Toffichoo Junior Champions Cup from June 20-23 at five different venues.
A total of 145 teams from 87 schools of the Kathmandu valley will take part in the tournament which features U-11, U-13 and U-15 categories, informed the organisers at a press meet on Tuesday.
Toffichoo, the confectionery product of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd, is the title sponsor of the tournament.
The matches will be held at Grassroots Futsal, Shantinagar Futsal, Samakhusi Futsal, National Sports Centre and BG Brothers Futsal and the winners of all the venues will make it to the semi-finals. The semis and finals of all three categories will be played at Grassroots Futsal in Mandikhatar.
“After the huge success of the first edition, we have decided to add the U-11 category this year and contribute in the development of the sport,” said Keshav Pradhan, Brand Manager at Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd. Event coordinator Raju Shrestha said the tournament was better and bigger to that of previous edition and his team was committed for a successful organisation of the event.
National football team goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong lauded the efforts of organisers and sponsors to bring in young players in one common platform.
