• Asher‑Smith second behind Bahamian Miller-Uibo
So now we know: Dina Asher‑Smith is human after all. As usual Britain’s brightest track star gave her all at the Birmingham Grand Prix but the effects of her sensational treble at last week’s European Championships ultimately told as she finished second in a stacked 200m.
There was no disgrace in defeat, especially given that the field contained the first four home in last year’s world championships. But it was noticable that when Asher‑Smith’s legs tried to purr and whirr coming off the bend she found them putting up prolonged resistance as Shaunae Miller-Uibo glided past her to win in 22.15sec.
