Kathmandu, May 22
The Times International Club defeated ANK Kritipur Basketball Team 95-72 to move at the top of the Kwiks Nepal Basketball League here today.
Times dominated the match and they opened with an eightpoint lead in the first quarter after scoring 26 points. Both the teams netted 21 points each in the second period before Times managed 17 points and restricted Kirtipur to just seven points in the third quarter.
The only unbeaten team in the league, Times then netted 31 points in the final quarter and Kirtipur scored 26 points. Praneet Udumalagala of Times was the player of the match with 24 points along with two blocks, six assists and eight rebounds.
With their 10th straight victory, Times lead the table with maximum 20 points, while Kritipur have 11 points from nine matches.
Tribhuvan Army Club are second with 19 points, while Golden Gate International Club are third with 15.
Budanilkhantha Muncipality Basketball Club have 14 points from 10 matches, while Nepal Police Club have 12 from eight matches. BMC South Siders Basketball Club and The Royal Basketball Club have 10 points each.
A total of eight teams are taking part in the biggest basketball tournament of the country organised by Play for Deprived Children Nepal under the sponsorship of Chaudhary Group.
Top two teams of the 55-day home-and-away tournament will take home Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively.
