RAJBIRAJ: Bode-Barsaein Thunders defeated defending champions Bajaj Khadak Warriors by 33 runs in the opening match of the second Mayor Cup Saptari Premier League here at the Public Bindeshwori School grounds on Monday.

The Thunders posted 179-2 in their allotted 20 overs before restricting Warriors to 146-8.

Mukund Yadav top scored for Thunders with an unbeaten 49 off just 15 balls and that also earned him the man-of-the-match award. Amit Yadav scored 34 not out, while Pawan Das contributed 33 and Minas Thapa scored 32. Hari Shankar Sah was the top scorer for Warriors scoring 45 off 29 balls. Samsad Sheikh scored 39 not out. Thunders skipper Manjeet Shrestha took two wickets. A total of five teams are taking part in the tournament.

Earlier, Rajbiraj Municipality Mayor Sambhu Prasad Yadav, deputy Mayor Sadhana Jha and Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality President Satis Kumar Singh inaugurated the event.

Top two teams will receive Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively.
