Kathmandu, December 22
Ruslan Three Star Club and CMG Club Sankata both dropped points in the Pulsar Martyrs Memorial A Division League here at the Nepal APF Club grounds today.
Defending champions Three Star played a goalless draw with Valley Chyasal Youth Club in Lalitpur derby, while Brigade Boys Club held Sankata to a 1-1 draw in their 10th round matches. The results meant Signature Manang Marshyangdi Club were two points clear at the top of the table and they have a chance to open up five-point lead with a win over Nepal Police Club on Sunday.
Sankata remained at the second position with 25 points, while Three Star are third with 23.
Fourth-placed Tribhuvan Army Club will play against Nepal APF Club in the departmental derby in Sunday’s another match. Chyasal climbed to sixth with 14 points, ahead of Himalayan Sherpa Club on superior goal difference, while Brigade Boys are 12th with six points.
In a match between two Patan-based clubs, Chyasal took the first move but Santa Bahadur Gurung ended up with a wayward shot in the fourth minute. Three Star came close to three minutes later but Chyasal goalkeeper Dinesh Thapa Magar saved Buddha Chemjong’s header on a cross from Ranjit Dhimal. Chyasal’s Sajin Thapa Magar failed to score in one-on-one with Three Star goalkeeper Alen Neupane in the 13th minute.
Chyasal put Three Star under pressure in the first half and wasted two more opportunities. Elvis skyrocketed from close in the 16th minute before Amir Shrestha’s free kick was saved by Neupane in the 41st minute.
Three Star created a couple of opportunities in the second half but they failed to find the back of the nets. Ajayi Martins saw his attempt saved by Chyasal goalkeeper Thapa Magar in the 52nd minute, while Albert Abang could not convert following a pass from Mixen.
In another match, Sankata squandered the lead to share spoils with BBC. Sankata went ahead in the 13th minute through Amit Tamang’s goal from the spot.
But they could not preserve their lead and conceded an equaliser in the 28th minute. Jaya Gurung found the back of the nets for BBC.
