KATHMANDU: A six-member taekwondo team on Thursday left for Italy to participate in the 30th Summer Universiade that began in Napoli on Wednesday.
Taekwondo and fencing teams from Nepal are taking part in the July 3-14 tournament. Sakshyam Karki, Umesh Raj Bhandari, Namrata Tuladhar, Ashmita Khadka and Parbati Gurung will compete in Kyorugi and poomsae events in taekwondo.
Nepal Taekwondo Association Secretary and Olympian Deepak Bista accompanied the players as team leader and coach.
