KATHMANDU: Nepal swimming team on Sunday left for India to participate in the 10th South Asian Agegroup Swimming Championship to be held in Bengaluru from September 24 to October 2.
Anubhav Subba, Bikash Kumal, Dipanker Awale, Gaurav Lama, Sagar Nayak, Tenzing Gurung, Nasir Hussain, Urgen Maharjan, Jebish Paudel, Shuvam Shrestha, Bedagya Raj Joshi, Ervin Shrestha, Adarsha Karki and Mohit Shakya will compete in men’s section events.
Likewise, Sofia Shah, Tisa Shakya, Adipsha Vaidhya, Anushka Pokharel, Yuska Maharjan, Anusiya Tandukar, Shrebi Maharjan, Upasti Maharjan, Siya Sthapit, Azmi Sherchan, Duwana Lama, Shikshya Shrestha, Lumana Shakya ad Samira Shova Thapa will take part in women’s events.
Nepal Swimming Association President Ashok Bajracharya is the team leader, while Sagar Shakya and Deepak Sagar Singh are the managers. Coaches Ratna Lal Maharjan and Nayana Shakya accompanied the players to India along with referees Bijen Shrestha, Yogendra Man Shrestha, Baikuntha Pradhan and Bishnu Khadka.
National Sports Council Member Secretary Ramesh Kumar Silwal bade farewell to the team on Sunday.
The swimmers are currently preparing for the 13th South Asian Games slated for December 1-10 in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
