KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary committee on Education and Health on Sunday formed a sub-committee under Member of Parliament Jeevan Ram Shrestha for the inspection of infrastructure for the upcoming 13th South Asian Games.
Shrestha is also the President of Nepal Olympic Committee and the South Asian Olympic Council. MPs Nabina Lama, Narayan Prasad Marasini, Namita Kumari Chaudhary and Gajendra Bahadur Mahat are the members in the committee, which will assess the situation of infrastructure and other preparations apart from giving necessary instruction to the concerned authorities.
Nepal is scheduled to host the South Asian regional sporting extravaganza —known as South Asian Federation Games until the ninth edition — for the third time from December 1-10 in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Nepal had previously hosted the first SAF Games in 1984 before organising the eighth edition in 1999.
