KATHMANDU: Bikram Shrestha of Nepal won bronze medal in the eighth World Para-Taekwondo Championship in Antalya, Turkey on Wednesday.

Competing in the P-32 category singles poomsae in U-30 age section, Shrestha lost 20-7 against Russian opponent Androi Gravoski in the semi-finals

Shrestha, who had a bye in the first round, defeated Morocco’s Bilal Khattavi 6-5 to earn a place in the last four, his coach Kabiraj Negi Lama informed. Russia and Croatia claimed gold and silver respectively, while Nepal and Italy bagged bronze.

This is Nepal’s first ever medal in poomsae in the Para World Championship. A total of 425 players from 69 nations are competing in the tournament.
