Kathmandu, June 22
Shivapuri School and Rato Bangala School won the titles of the Toffichoo Junior Champions Cup here at the Grassroot Futsal today.
In the U-14 section final of the inter-school futsal tournament, Shivapuri defeated Budhanilkantha 5-2. Earlier, Shivapuri beat Premier International, while Budhanilkantha defeated EPS in semi-finals. EPS finished third after beating Premier.
In the U-12 category, Rato Bangala beat Trinetra School 3-1 in the final. Rato Bangala had beaten Rajarshi Gurukul in the semi-final, while Trinetra defeated Saipal to make it to the final. Rajarshi Gurukul beat Saipal 3-1 to finish third.
A total of 105 schools took part in the four-day tournament sponsored by Toffichoo, the confectionery brand of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd. The league round matches were held at National Sports Centre, Baneshwor Futsal, Samakhushi Futsal and Grassroot Futsal. The winners of all the four venues in both age categories made it to the semi-finals.
Managing Director of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd Abhimanyu Poddar, President of All Nepal Football Association Karma Tsering Sherpa and ANFA Vice-president Upendra Man Singh among others handed over the prizes to the winners.
