Sherpa claims Surya Nepal Monthly Medal

Kathmandu, July 20

Ang Dendi Sherpa won the fourth edition title of the Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Played under strokeplay full handicap format, the 10-handicap amateur golfer Sherpa carded seven-under 65 to finish first in nett section.

Korean golfer Eui Jae Lee came second with six-under 66, while Col Avaneesh Chambial was third with the score of four-under 68.

Wangchen Dhondup won the gross section award with the score of one-under 71, while Sadbhav Acharya carded three-over 75 nett to win the junior section trophy.

In all, 42 golfers took part in the tournament organised by Gokarna Golf Club under the sponsorship of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd. President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire handed over the prizes to the winners.

After the fourth edition, Col Avaneesh Chambial moved to the top of the leaderboard in nett section with 120 points, five more than second-placed Joseph Nathan.

Babu Sherpa is third with 105 points, followed by Ang Dendi Sherpa, Rabendra Raj Pandey and Vijay Shrestha Einhaus — who are on 100 points.

Wangchen Dhondup took the lead in gross category after the day’s victory. He had 295 points and is ahead of his brother Tashi Tsering (240). Vijay Shrestha Einhaus is third with 160 points, while Tashi Dong (65) and Babu Sherpa (60) are fourth and fifth respectively. In junior section, Sadbhav Acharya extended the lead with the day’s victory. He is at the top with 300 points, while Mayanka Dahal is second with 160 points, followed by Ang Phurba (140), Shaswat Pradhan (120) and Shreeyog Basnyat (40).
