KATHMANDU: Nepal’s young spinner Sandeep Lamichhane is making his debut for Delhi Daredevils in the ongoing Indian Premier League today.
Delhi is taking on Royal Challengers Banglore at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Delhi and Nepal national cricket team member Lamichhane have been picked for the first time along with other debutants Junior Dala and Abhisek Sharma.
Lamichhane had spent his last 11 matches on the bench. Delhi is at the bottom of the table with just six points from 11 matches.
Interestingly Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi who returned today, in his speech right before leaving for India had talked about Lamichhane. “IPL is being organised in India and it has connected both nations. For the first time in IPL’s history, Nepali player Sandeep Lamichhane is taking part. Hopefully in future, not just cricket but also other sports will connect Nepal and India,” said Modi during a civil felicitation in Kathmandu.
