LALITPUR: Province-5 won the team championship of the 11th President’s Running Shield organised by the National Sports Council here at the National Sports Council covered hall on Tuesday.
Province-5 won 20 each gold and silver medals along with 10 bronze to finish first, while Province-1 and Farwest came second and third with 13 and 12 gold medals respectively in the tournament that features six sports disciplines — athletics, volleyball, karate, taekwondo, wushu and kabaddi.
A total of four junior national records were shattered in athletics and all of them were by Province-5 athletes — 4X100m relay teams in both boys and girls sections, Sangita Adhikari (shot put) and Aruna Rijal (400m).
Each record earned Rs 10,000. NSC Vice-president Pitambar Timsina handed over the prizes to the winners.
