Preparation for second Byasnagar Open Ultra Marathon in full swing

DAMAULI: The preparations for the second Byasnagar Open Ultra Marathon race to be held in Tanahun district on January 30 has picked up its pace.

Byas Municipality in the district is organising the marathon to mark the Martyrs Day .

The 42-kilometre long ultramarathon will start from Manung of Byas Municipality-5 and will end in Pulimryang of Byas Municipality-8, according to Mohan Kumar Shrestha, Spokesperson of the municipality.

The winner will receive a sum of Rs 80,000, while the runner-up and third finisher will bag Rs 60,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively along with certificates, Shreshta said and added that three others will get the consolation prize of Rs 15,000 each and certificates.

This marathon race is being organised for the purpose of promoting sports tourism in the region.

A significant number of athletes from across the country are expected to take part in the event which will start from Manung and go through Siddhamarga, Alaiche, Chapaghat, Bhorletar, Baireni, Pathra, Baniya Dihi Barlachi, Bahun Pokhara before ending at Martyrs Park in Pulimaryang.

Earlier, the municipality had organised the first Byasnagar Open Ultra Marathon Competition on May 12 in which more than 200 athletes had participated.
