Kathmandu, May 18
The organiser of the Prime Minister Cup, National Sports Council has rescheduled the One Day Cricket Tournament for the second time in a week.
The 50-over tournament, which was scheduled to begin on May 15 at TU Stadium, was postponed for May 22 but the organizer today announced the new dates and an added venue.
As per the new schedules, the tournament will now begin on May 24 at Mulpani grounds which will host a total of nine matches including the opening game between Nepal Police Club and Province-1.
“We pushed the tournament by a couple of days as we were waiting for the completion of the Mulpani Cricket Academy grounds,” said NSC Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista at a press meet.
A total of 10 teams are taking part in the tournament and they are divided into two groups. Nepal APF Club, Province-5, Province-3, Farwest Province and Gandaki Province are in Group A, while Tribhuvan Army Club, NPC, Province-1, Province-2 and Karnali Province are in Group B. Mulpani will host five of the Group B matches and four Group A games. Other league round matches, semi-finals and final will be played at TU Stadium. Top two teams from both the pools will make it to the semi-finals.
The winners and runners-up of the tournament will receive two million rupees and one million rupees respectively, while the player of the series will get a motorcycle. Likewise, the best batsman and bowler will get Rs 50,000 each, while the spectators can earn Rs 50,000 for each one-handed catch outside the boundary.
Province-3 skipper Paras Khadka, APF vice-captain Prithu Baskota, TAC skipper Binod Bhandari and NPC captain Manjeet Shrestha along with other officials unveiled the jersey, while Nepalaya International — the event management company of the event — signed the sponsorship deal with Expert Education and Visa Service.
