KATHMANDU: Paras Khadka has resigned from the captaincy of Nepali National cricket team on Tuesday.
Khadka who made his debut in 2004 from the senior side took responsibility as the captain in 2009. All rounder Khadka recently became the first batsmen for Nepal to score a century in ODI match against UAE in Dubai on 28 January 2019 and another century in T20 format against Singapore on 28 September 2019.
Khadka’s resignation comes a day after the readmittance of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) as ICC member following the conclusion of the ICC board meeting held in Dubai of United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Monday.
Khadka is vacating the captaincy he held for a decade after taking over the post from the then captain Binod Das in 2009. In his press release, Paras wished for the new committee to work for the betterment of Nepal cricket, players and its stakeholders.
Khadka is lauded by the Nepali cricket fans for his immense contribution in uplifting Nepali cricket. During his captaincy, Nepal was promoted to the T20 status.
Great to know that the suspension of Nepal cricket has been lifted and would like to wish the new committee to work for the betterment of Nepal cricket,players and its stake holders.

Moreover, under his leadership, Nepal won 2010 ICC World Cricket league Division 5 in Nepal, 2012 ICC World Cricket League Division 4 in Malaysia, 2012 ACC Trophy Elite in UAE, 2013 ICC World Cricket league Division 3 in Barmuda, 2014 World Cricket league Division 3 in Malaysia, and participated in the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.
He is currently ranked at 24 in ICC T20 All-rounder rankings.
