KATHMANDU: Nepal and Bangladesh are facing each other in the third game of the Olympics Women Football’s Asian qualifier today.
The match is taking place at 2:15 pm Nepali time at Thunuwa Stadium based in Yangon, Myanmar, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) stated.
Today’s game is crucial for Nepal as it will decide whether Nepal qualifies for the second leg of this tournament. Nepal had drawn in the two earlier matches.
Nepal tied 1-1 with India in the first game and with Myanmar in the second game. Nepal which is in Group ‘C’ has earned two points from as many matches and is in the third position.
Myanmar, which has four points, is in the first position and India with four points is in the second place of the tally. Bangladesh, which has not earned any points, is in the last position.
The game between India and Myanmar also holds significance for Nepal. The two countries are meeting in the second game today. Whatever the result of the game between India and Myanmar, Nepal would enter the second leg if it is able to defeat Bangladesh in today’s match.
Eighteen teams are contesting in the first leg of the qualifier from Asia aiming for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
