Kaski Coordination Committee of Nepal Sports Journalists Forum today unveiled the nominees of third TVS Apache Pokhara Sports Award slated for June 1.
NSJF Kaski announced the nominees of the Player of the Year male, female, coach and emerging player categories during a press meet here today. Weightlifter Kamal Bahadur Adhikari, cricketer Karan KC and archer Tilak Pun Magar were nominated in male category. The winner of this category will get a TVS Apache motorbike and trophy.
Karate player Bimala Nepali, hockey player Kamala Pun and archer Keshari Ale were nominated in women’s category and the winner will get TVS Wego scooter and trophy.
Athlete Bibek Adhikari, kabaddi player Buddhi Maya Magar and cricketer Meg Bahadur Sen made it to the nomination in emerging player category. Weightlifting’s Jeevan Ghimire, cricket’s Raju Praju and karate’s Shiva Bahadur Gurung were nominated in coach category. The winners of the emerging player and coach categories will receive Rs 15,000 and trophy each.
NSJF Kaski President Keshav Pathak informed that winners of the four categories will get Samsung mobile phone each from Worldwide Connection of Chipledhunga. The organisers will also honour Kaski District Badminton Association with the best sports association award with Rs 10,000 and a journalist working for tourism sports with Rs 15,000.
NSJF Kaski will felicitate Birendra Singh Gurung with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution in the development in sports infrastructure. Prithvi Narayan Campus chief Professor Gurung introduced hockey in Pokhara. He also played crucial role in the preparing lawn tennis and cricket infrastructure in Pokhara.
The organisers will also fete singer Binod Baniya in honour of his contribution in the development of sport through sports related song.
