KATHMANDU: The Nepal Olympic Committee on Wednesday announced the date for its elective general assembly, which was originally scheduled for September 6.
According to NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha, the elections will be held on September 14.
The assembly was postponed indefinitely following Supreme Court’s interim order to stop the procedures. The apex court, which issued the order reacting to the writ petition filed by Kamal Chitrakar, vacated the order after hearing arguments from both sides on Sunday.
“The voting will be held on Saturday in the presence of representatives from International Olympic Committee and Olympic Council of Asia,” said Shrestha, after the election committee — headed by senior advocate Lok Bhakta Rana — on Wednesday decided to resume the procedures of the elective general assembly following the court’s green signal.
A total of 26 representatives have filed nomination papers for 19 posts.
