Kathmandu, December 23
Nepal National and International Players Association and Janata Bank reached the sponsorship agreement for the NNIPA Sports Award.
NNIPA President Deepak Shrestha and deputy CEO of Janata Bank Ajaya Mishra signed the memorandum of understanding amidst a programme today. As per the five-year agreement between the two parties, Janata Bank will provide the two outstanding athletes of the Award with Rs 100,000 each.
NNIPA will select the two outstanding players — one each in male and female categories — from among the 29 winners of the Award. National associations of their respective sports disciplines will recommend the best players. NNIPA has formed a three-member committee under its IPP Olympian Deepak Bista to select the outstanding players.
Janata Bank deputy CEO Mishra said he was happy to get the opportunity to join hands with NNIPA for the awards. “We are happy to support the athletes of the country and we are committed to continue the agreement in the years to come,” Mishra added. NNIPA President Shrestha thanked Janata Bank for the support and said the Awards was getting bigger with the help of corporate sector. “We are delighted to get the support from Janata Bank,” he said.
NNIPA has decided to include 29 sports disciplines — which were included in the NSC Championship — in this edition along with the Gajaraj Joshi Ideal Athlete Award and NNIPA Sports Journalism Award. The Award programme is slated for December 28 at Patan Durbar Square.
