KATHMANDU: Krishna Yadav scored a brace as Nepal registered a 4-1 victory over defending champions Bangladesh in the SAFF U-15 Football Championship at the Kalyani Stadium in Kalyanim West Bengal on Tuesday.
Sugan Jimi and Pradeep Lamsal added one goal each for Nepal, while Miya netted the consolation goal for Bangladesh.
Yadav opened the scoring in the first half injury time before Jimi doubled the tally in the 52nd minute. Miya reduced the deficit in the 79th minute before Lamsal and Yadav scored two goals in the space of six minutes to seal the team’s second victory. Lamsal found the back of the nets in the 82nd minute and Yadav scored his second goal of the match in the 88th minute.
Nepal had opened the campaign with a 5-0 loss at the hands of hosts India before defeating Sri Lanka 2-0.
Nepal will play against Bhutan in the last league round match on Thursday.
Top two teams will qualify for the final of the five-team tournament.
