KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated arch-rival India in a penalty shootout to seal final berth of the SAFF U-18 Women Championship in Thimpu, Bhutan, today.
Nepal beat India 3-2 in the tiebreaker after both teams were tied 1-1 in regulation time.
Nepal’s Rashmi Kumari Ghising broke the deadlock in the 15th minute. However, India’s Samikshya hit back in the 65th minute after Nepal falter to opponent’s onslaught in the second half.
In the final, Nepal would take on the winner of the other semi-finals between the hosts Bhutan and Bangladesh.
