KATHMANDU: Nepal Cricket Team has left for Sri Lanka today for the preparation of upcoming Asia Cup Qualifier 2018 to be held in Malaysia from August 29–October 06.
During the tour to the island nation, Nepal will feature in three practices matches against the local teams of Colombo. Nepal will play against the Army Cricket team, Bloomfield and Colts on August 22, 24 and 26 respectively before flying to Malaysia the following day.
Opening batsman Sagar Pun, who is in sparkling form for the Kuala Lumpur outfit in the Malaysian Premier League, has returned to the national fold and veteran middle-order batsman Sarad Vesawkar misses out due to a knee injury.
After European tour, veteran rookie player Shakti Gauchan had announced his retirement from international cricket.
Star leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichanne, who is plying his trade in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for Chris Gayle’s team St Kitts and Nevis, will join the team directly in Malaysia on August 28.
Earlier, the CAAN had announced the 15-member touring party for Sri Lanka.
