NDA, Tigers advance

KATHMANDU: New Diamond Academy and Chitwan Tigers advanced to the semi-finals of the Aadhi Aabadi Women’s Volleyball League here at the National Sports Council covered hall on Sunday.

New Diamond laboured to a 3-2 victory over Tribhuvan Army Club to make it to the last four from Group A. NDA won the first set 25-15 before TAC hit back by taking the next two sets 25-22, 25-18 to take the 2-1 lead.

NDA regrouped and won the fourth set 25-22 to level the scores before winning the fifth and final set 15-11. With their second straight loss, the TAC crashed out of the semi-finals race, while the Tigers, who were not in action, made it to the last four.

NDA and Tigers will fight to decide the group winners. In another match, Nepal APF Club defeated Nepal Police Club 25-19, 25-22, 25-20. Both the departmental sides have three points each and the top two sides will be decided after Monday’s match between APF and Pokhara Pinkage.

A total of six teams are taking part in the tournament jointly organised by Nepal Volleyball Association and Aadhi Aabadi Foundation of India.
