PHIDIM: DFC Morang lifted the title of Panchthar Gold Cup after defeating the visiting United Football Club of Darjeeling 3-1 in the final match on Monday.
In a pulsating encounter, DFC’s Hemanta Thapa opened the scoring in the 7th minute before UFC Darjeeling’s Karan Rai equalised in the 37th minute of the game at the full house crowd in Phidim Higher Secondary ground today.
After the restart, DFC came out all guns blazing and scored two goals in as many minutes, to stun the visiting team.
DFC’s foreign recruit Armand Vidung and Sajog Rai registered their name in the score-sheet to give an unaccessible lead.
With the trophy, DFC bagged a cash purse of Rs 0.4 million, trophy and certificates while the runner up collected Rs 0.4 million, trophy among others.
