KATHMANDU: League leader Signature Manang Marsyandi Club defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 1-0 and Nepal Police Club trounced NIBL Friends Club 5-0 during their Pulsar Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League in Kathmandu on Friday.

Bishal Rai’s solitary goal in the half-hour mark was enough for MMC to secure a hard-fought victory over the departmental team today at the ANFA Complex ground in Satdobato of Lalitpur.

Later, MMC’s defender Mohamed Asif was awarded man of the match for his heroic performance.

NPC’s Avishek Rijal, Rabi Paswan, Skipper Bharat Shah, Tej Tamang, and Neer Kumar all scored goals to hammer NIBL Friends Club at the ANFA Complex Ground.

Rijal opened the scoring in the third minute, Paswan added another in the 20th minute before skipper Shah notched a goal in the hour mark. Three minutes later, Tamang scored his first and team’s fourth goal and Kumar sealed a comprehensive victory after smashing the fifth goal in the 87th minute.

NPC’s Paswan was awarded man of the match and collected a cash purse of Rs 10,000.

After today’s play, MMC lead the 14-team table on 21 points from eight matches and NRT sit at the bottom with a solitary point for eight games.

In tomorrow’s play, Chysal Football Club take on Brigade Boys Club in early kickoff 11:00 am whereas Three Star Club will lock horns with Machhindra Football Club in late kickoff around 2:30 pm.
