KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Kings XI have qualified for playoffs after securing five wickets victory over Biratnagar Warriors during their Everest Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament at TU Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur, on Monday.
With this crushing defeat, defending champions Warriors have failed to make it to the next round of the competition.
Kings XI’s skipper and UAE player, Rohan Mustafa, won the toss and invited Paras Khadka’s Warriors to take the first strike in a foggy condition. Interestingly, Kings XI bowled out Warriors for 100 runs in 17.5 overs and cantered to five-wicket victory in as many overs.
Man of the match Kevin O’Brien took three scalps with the ball and made valuable unbeaten 45 runs with the bat to take his team over the line in a low scoring game.
After completion of five round of matches, Lalitpur Patriots and Kathmandu Kings XI have qualified into eliminator round, next two teams, Bhairahawa Gladiators and Chitwan Tigers have also made it the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Lalitpur Patriots top the six-team table on eight points with a better run rate to Kathmandu Kings XI and Pokhara Rhinos bowed out of the competition without securing a victory in the third edition of the competition.
