Kathmandu, February 5
Biratnagar Kings today announced the sponsors and partners of the team for the Ruslan Dhangadhi Premier League and also unveiled the jersey.
Kings are one of the six teams participating in the third edition of the DPL which is beginning on Saturday at the proposed Fapla International Stadium. According to franchise owner and former cricketer Prafulla Baidhya, Sri Airlines is the main sponsor of the team, while Nepal Wellhope Agri-Tech Pvt Ltd is the co-sponsor. Likewise, NIC Asia Bank, Mahalaxmi Cable and Subaru are the other partners of the team.
National team member Karan KC is the strategic player and skipper of the team which also includes the likes of Prithu Baskota, Susan Bhari, Hari Shankar Sah and Trit Raj Das. Hong Kong international Sunil Lama is the team coach and Saugat Bikram Shah is the team manager. Kings — who replaced national team skipper Paras Khadka with KC after he pulled out of the tournament — will open the DPL campaign with a match against Dhangadhi Stars on Saturday.
“We do not have big stars in the team but we believe our squad is balanced and we are capable of lifting the title,” said coach Lama. “We will try to give our best in the tournament,” he added. Skipper KC said his side was committed to give its 100 per cent in the tournament. “We have a strong side and the players are capable of winning matches,” he added.
Franchise owner Baidhya said the team was more focused on playing good cricket in Dhangadhi. “We will see how it goes this year and we have a plan to come up with a different plan from next edition,” he said. Asked about the agreements with the sponsors and partners, Baidhya said: “We have signed one-year deals with all the sponsors and we have agreed to work together for this edition.”
