Martyrs Memorial A Division League

Lalitpur, December 2

Bharat Khawas scored a brace to guide Tribhuvan Army Club to a 2-1 victory over Himalayan Sherpa Club in the Pulsar Martyrs Memorial A Division League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

TAC skipper Khawas scored on either side of the half-time, while Ulrich Siewe netted the consolation goal for Sherpa. TAC maintained their unbeaten run to climb to second position with 13 points, while Sherpa faced their first loss in the league and have 10 points from five matches.

Khawas put the Armymen ahead in the 33rd minute when he headed home following a corner from Santosh Tamang. Khawas doubled the lead in the 85th minute after he found the nets in rebound. Sherpa goalkeeper Kishor Giri blocked Dinesh Henjan’s shot and Khawas buried the ball into the nets.

Two minutes later, Siewe cut the deficit but that was not enough for Sherpa to save the team from facing their first loss. Siewe’s powerful strike from 25 yards out took a deflection that sent TAC goalkeeper Bikesh Kuthu to the wrong direction.

Friends win

NIBL Friends Club defeated Machhindra Football Club 3-0 to register their first victory of the league. Fofana Brahiman, Sanjog Maharjan and Anil Maharjan scored a goal each for Friends.

After a goalless first half, Brahiman put Friends ahead in the 66th minute when he converted the free kick into the goal from 25 yards out. Sanjog Maharjan doubled the lead in the 83rd minute after he scored from the edge of the box, while Anil Maharjan tapped in from close range on a pass from Prejen Tamang in the sixth minute of the injury time.

With their first win, Friends accumulated four points from five matches, while Machhindra have two following their third straight loss.
