KATHMANDU: Nepal Shito-Ryu Karate Association on Monday selected nine players for the 15th Asia Pacific Karate Championship to be held in Indonesia later this month.

The winners of kata and respective weight categories were selected for the Championship slated for November 21-25 in Jakarta, informed International Referee Coordinator Rajendra Kapali.

Parsu Ram Bastola was selected for men’s singles kata after he defeated fellow Tribhuvan Army Club player Pravin Manandhar in the final. Likewise, Bijay Shrestha of Nepal Police Club won the men’s 55kg weight category, while Anish Lama of Kathmandu came first in men’s 60kg.

Also, Ashish Thapa (67kg) of Central Dojo and Digambar Prasad Panta (84kg) of Nepal APF Club won their weight categories.

In women’s section, Chanchala Danuwar (kata) of Nepal Police Club earned the tickets to Indonesia along with TAC duo Kusum Khadka (50kg) and Suny Tamang (61kg) and APF’s Manisha Chaudhary (55kg).
