Jhapa, March 2

Jhapa-XI Football Club defeated Sahara Club of Pokhara 2-0 in the inaugural match of the Jhapa Gold Cup at the Domalal Rajbanshi Stadium grounds in Birtamod today.

Kazim Bukhari and Samyog Rai scored a goal each for the home side in the first half. Bukhari put Jhapa ahead in the 40th minute, while Rai found the back of the nets moments before the first half whistle. Rai, who replaced skipper Karna Limbu, was named the man of the match.

On Sunday, Nepal APF Club will take on Morang-XI in the first round match. A total of 10 teams are taking part in the event. Top two teams will earn Rs 1.25 million and Rs 650,000 respectively.
