Nepal Sports Council (NSC) announced that Nepal national cricket team will now get their remuneration for the past two years!
Since the International Cricket Council dissolved Nepal’s Cricket body ‘Cricket Association of Nepal’ (CAN) in 2016, Nepal players have not been regularly receiving their salaries.
However, after NSC’s requests, the international cricket authority agreed to release the payments, said NSC Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista.
According to Bista, ICC has decided to release payments for 2018 and 2019 based on the categorization of players.
“We have signed contracts with the players and sent the documents to the ICC. The players included in the categorization will receive their pay within next few weeks,” Bista informed.
Players will receive the following remuneration based on their grades per month:
- Grade A – NPR 35,000
- Grade B – NPR 25,000
- Grade C – NPR 15,000
Background
Back in 2016, ICC had suspended CAN over the political interference in Nepal’s cricket administration. Since then the game and players have been struggling in the absence of funding from CAN.
This is also affecting the growth of the game and cricket enthusiasts within the country.
Let’s hope that Nepal finds a solution at the earliest to address this situation!
