Three weeks later they watched Exeter and Scarlets lift the two trophies instead, a harsh reminder of the sizeable difference between the marathon regular season and the play‑off sprint.

That crucially important lesson will not be lost on this year’s table toppers – Exeter, Glasgow and Leinster – all of whom appreciate that nine months of relentless toil can quite easily be undermined in the sunshine of May. The trick is to take a fresh mental guard and remember final league positions guarantee nothing beyond European qualification for next season.

Nabil’s SME Hub

KATHMANDU: Nabil Bank has announced inauguration of its Mid-corporate and SME Hub in United World Trade Centre, Kathmandu by the bank’s Chairman Shambhu Prasad Poudyal.

The hub caters to business enterprises involved in trading, manufacturing and services of mid-corporate and SME sizes, it said in a statement. It also looks after direct and indirect microfinancing activities at various branches of the bank across the nation. Mid-corporate lending covers loans of Rs 30 million to Rs 100 million for a single unit or group.

SME lending covers loan exposure of up to Rs 30 million, whereas microfinance covers direct lending to individuals and units, wholesale lending to microfinance institutions (MFIs) and cooperatives, as well as equity investments in MFIs.

Nabil Bank and UKaid Sakchyam Access to Finance Programme also joined hands to promote access to finance to the micro and SME sector. Nabil Bank intends to work with Sakchyam to increase its footprint in the rural sector by establishing a dedicated and specialised SME lending unit in the bank to enhance access to finance for micro, small and medium enterprises.

Sakchyam and Nabil Bank will be jointly working on market assessment, product development, process and operational set up and training and development, targeted for rural areas.

An agreement to this end was also signed between Nabil and Sakchyam during inauguration of the hub on Sunday. Nabil has also launched a new product named ‘NabilSME Fast Track Loan’ to assist emerging mid-sized trading, manufacturing and service businesses with a competitive interest rate.

Bancassurance pact

KATHMANDU: Shangri-la Development Bank Ltd (SDBL) and Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) Nepal have entered into a bancassurance agreement to provide insurance products to clients of SDBL.

Following the agreement, SDBL customers can now avail all insurance services from its 40 branches. The agreement was signed by Rajendra Poudel, CEO of SDBL and Abhijit Ghosh Dastidar, officiating officer of LIC Nepal.

This arrangement is believed to be beneficial to bank customers as it will provide better access to various insurance services.

As of the third quarter end of current fiscal, SDBL’s paid-up capital stood at Rs 2.36 billion, whereas deposits and credit outstanding figures stood at Rs 14.76 billion and Rs 14 billion, respectively.

Hero’s new launches

The new 110cc Duet comes with a sturdy metal body, advanced performance and exciting features. The scooter is powered with an all-new BSIV Compliant Air cooled, four-stroke single cylinder OHC engine that produces more usage power and is energy efficient.

The scooter produces a maximum power output of 6 kW (8 BHP) @7500 RPM and maximum torque of 8.7 Nm @5500 RPM. It comes in candy blazing red, grace grey and panther black colour schemes.

Batas Brothers Pvt Ltd and Kaski Coordination Committee of Nepal Sports Journalists Forum today signed a three-year sponsorship deal for the third Pokhara Sports Award slated for June 1.

Batas Brothers Director Bipendra Raj Batas and NSJF Kaski President Keshav Pathak signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) amidst a programme here today. As per the agreement, TVS Apache will be the title sponsor of the Pokhara Sports Award and Batas Brothers provide one each bike and scooter to the best male and female players.

Player of the Year (male) winner will get TVS Apache motorbike, while the Player of the Year (female) will receive a TVS Wego scooter. Batas Brothers Pvt Ltd is the authorised distributor of TVS company in the Gandaki-Dhaulagiri region.

Batas Brothers Director Batas said the company decided to join hands with NSJF Kaski for the cause of sports and athletes. “I had been following the award for last two years. We were convinced that the award has played an important role in the development of sports in the region,” said Batas.

NSJF Kaski President Pathak thanked Batas Brothers for joining hands for the Sports Award.

“We conducted the first two editions with support from our well wishers in the country and abroad. This year we have the support of Batas Brothers and we hope to get support from corporate houses in the years to come,” added Pathak.

The Pokhara Sports Award features six categories – male, female, emerging player, popular player, coach and lifetime achievement award. The coordination committee will also honour a sports journalist during the event.

Hyundai announces FIFA WC campaign

Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt Ltd today announced the “Road to Russia” campaign ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

The campaign will start from Monday and Laxmi Intercontinental Pvt Ltd, the authorised dealer of Hyundai vehicles in Nepal, will send two lucky customers to Russia to watch the FIFA World Cup match.

Shivam New Diamond Academy and Western Regional Volleyball Association advanced to the semi-finals of the fourth KNP Japan National Women’s Volleyball Tournament here at the NSC covered hall today.

NDA defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 3-2 to finish as Group B runners-up, while Western thrashed Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre in straight sets to become the Group A runners-up.

The results meant, TAC and Jawalakhel were knocked out of the six-team competition.

In the day’s first match, NDA took the first 25-19 before TAC bounced back to win the second 25-19. NDA restored the lead claiming the third set 25-18 but TAC levelled the scores for the second time by winning the fourth set 25-22. However, NDA claimed the deciding final set 15-10 riding on Pratibha Mali’s eight points.

Similarly, Western conceded 13 points in the first set before Jawalakhel scored 20 points each in remaining two sets.

In Monday’s semi-final matches, TAC will take on Group A winners Nepal APF Club, while Western will face Group B winners Nepal Police Club.
