KATHMANDU: Nepal’s swimming sensation Gaurika Singh has won a historic fourth gold medal in 100-metre freestyle during the ongoing 13th South Asian Games held in Kathmandu, on Monday.
With this feat, Gaurika has become the only player to have won four golds in the same edition of the regional sporting event. She has also equalled the record set by Deepak Bista.
Singh has bagged gold medals in 200 m freestyle, 200 m backstroke, 400 m freestyle, collected silver medals in 100 m backstroke, 500 m backstroke and won bronze medals in 400 m freestyle relay and 800 m freestyle relay.
Nepal has now inched closer to achieving the 50-gold mark in the ongoing South Asian Games.
