BIRATNAGAR: The Province-1 government on Tuesday felicitated the members of the national women football team that won silver medal in the fourth Women’s SAFF Championship.
Chief Minister Sher Dhan Rai and Social Development Minister Jeevan Ghimire handed over Rs 100,000 each to the players amidst a programme. The Province-1 government had announced the reward of Rs 200,000 and Rs 200,000 each to the players for the top two spots respectively.
Nepal finished as runners-up after facing a 3-1 defeat against India in Biratnagar earlier this year. On Monday, Biratnagar Municipality rewarded the women footballers with Rs 50,000 each.
Meanwhile, Biratnagar Municipality has agreed to organise the first-ever National Women’s A Division League upon the request of All Nepal Football Association President Karma Tsering Sherpa.
