KATHMANDU: Tej Bahadur Deuba of Nepal advanced to the third round of the first Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament in Bangkok on Monday.
Deuba, who had a first-round bye, defeated Khamphouvanh Khamsathone of Laos 5-0 in the second round match of the men’s 46-49kg weight category.
Meanwhile, two other Nepali boxers lost their bouts. Bhupendra Thapa lost to Korean opponent in the 64kg weight category, while Bimal Roka went down to Kazakhstan boxer in the second round match of the 56kg section. Roka had defeated Slovania boxer in the first round on Saturday.
Out of the six players, five Nepali boxers have already been eliminated.
Nepal Boxing Association has taken the tournament as preparation for the Asian Games to be held in Indonesia from August 18 to September 2.
