Jhapa, March 7
Dauphins Family Club of Cameroon advanced to the semi-finals of the Mugmug Jhapa Gold Cup Football Tournament here at the Domalal Rajbanshi Stadium today.
Dauphins defeated Lali Rupandehi-XI Football Club 2-0 in the fourth and final quarter-final match. Petnga Armel and Misouli Itigne scored in either half for the Cameroonian side. Dauphins joined hosts Mugmug Jhapa-XI, Ruslan Three Star Club and Tribhuvan Army Club in the last four.
Dauphins, who have already bagged three titles in their maiden Nepal visit, will face Tribhuvan Army Club for a place in the final. TAC had defeated Dauphins 1-0 in the semi-finals of the Aaha Rara Gold Cup in Pokhara last month.
Dauphins took the lead in the 38th minute from the spot.
Pepi Adama of Rupandehi fouled Misouli Itigne of Dauphins inside the danger zone and Petnga Armel converted the resulting penalty. Itigne doubled the tally in the 87th minute when he found the back of the nets with a clever shot from long range at a time when Rupandehi goalkeeper had come forward. Itigne was named the man of the match and he earned Rs 15,000.
On Friday, hosts Mugmug Jhapa-XI will play against Ruslan Three Star Club in the first semi-final match of the tournament.
