It’s a first for Denmark. No Danish rider has ever held the rainbow jersey. Trentin tried to force Pedersen to go to the front but when he went himself he had nothing to give and the younger Dane blasted past him on a slight uphill finish to win by 20 metres.
What a finish! The Danish rider stays on Trentin’s wheel and with 200 metres to go he accelerates past the Italian and leaves him for dust. What a win for the 23-year-old. He jumps off his bike and burst into tears! Kung finishes third.
