Kathmandu, September 12
The meeting of National Development Action Committee (NDAC) led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has instructed the concerned ministries to prepare a plan of resource mobilisation and action matrix for completion of projects as per stipulated timeframe.
The concerned ministries have yet to develop the special purpose vehicle for some of the projects listed as national pride projects, like Second International Airport, Nijgadh; Budhigandaki Hydel Project, among others.
The meeting led by the prime minister was attended by the ministers and secretaries of every ministry, with the objective of facilitating development projects and programmes in case they are facing any hassles or hurdles during the execution process. The meeting also decided to hold the concerned officials accountable for execution of development projects, according to National Planning Commission Secretary Laxman Aryal.
In terms of low development expenses compared to the earmarked budget, the meeting sought an action plan for proper execution of development projects, according to Aryal.
Development projects facing perennial delays, thereby resulting in cost overruns, have become the norm in Nepal.
The prime minister-led committee has also instructed the ministries to design the programmes that can contribute to productivity instead of promoting excessive consumerism and also urged to collect the report from the provinces and local levels in this regard.
The meeting also decided to promote the technology used in production process and ban the import of products that are hazardous to human health, harmful for animals and environment as well, according to NPC officials.
