Gopal Chitrakar won the title of the We Are All Able Charity Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, the eight-handicap amateur golfer Chitrakar earned 21 points on either half for the total score of 42 points. He received return tickets to Singapore from Silk Air along with the trophy. Chitrakar, who is the Vice- Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, auctioned the tickets for charity. He also bagged the closest-to-the-pin award.
Dipak Karki finished second with 41 points after the 18-handicapper scored 22 points on the front nine and added 19 on the latter half. Maj Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi won the gross section trophy with 38 points and he also claimed most birdies award with five birdies.
Brig Gen Dilip Rayamajhi claimed the senior category title on count back after he was tied on 34 points with Maj Gen Mahesh Bikram Karki and Prabhakar Adhikari.
The winner was declared on the count of last three holes after Rayamajhi and Karki had matching scores of 17 on back nine and both of them scored 11 on the last six holes.
Brig Gen Rayamajhi prevailed on the last three holes as he had earned six points, two more than Karki. Maj Gen Karki finished second on the count of last nine holes with Adhikari, who had scored 14 points on the latter half. Shreeyog Basnyat won the junior section title with 36 points, while Sadbhav Acharya was runner-up with 34 points. Vijay Shrestha Einhaus won the longest drive award.
A total of 54 players took part in the tournament organised by Ability Development Society of Nepal. AD- SoN President Rabindra Raj Pandey, Executive Director Nirmala Gyawali, Treasurer Upendra Poudel and Captain of Gokarna Golf Club Joseph Nathan handed over the prizes to the winners of the tournament.
The event — one of the regular local fund raising activities of ADSoN for the benefit of Persons with Disabilities — was supported by Gokarna Golf Club, Laxmi Bank, Himalayan Bank, Gorkha Brewery, Everest International Tours and Travels, Nabil Bank, NIC Asia Bank, Kathmandu Medical College, Sri Investment and Finance Company, Silk Air, and Janata Bank.
