38 min: The ball goes out of play for a City corner and Raheem Sterling goers to retrieve it. Behind the advertising hoarding, several snarling Chelsea fans – grown, middle-aged men – scream abuse at him, their faces contorted with fury.
“They’re wishing him a happy birthday,” quips Steve McManaman, on co-comms for BT Sport. Sterling is 24 years old today and already appears to have achieved considerably more in life than his comparatively elderly chums in the stands.
