Kathmandu, June 15
Chandrapur Municipality overwhelmed Bhineshwor Municipality 22-0 as the three matches of the Deputy Mayor Cup Inter- Municipality Women’s Football League produced 36 goals here at the Nepal APF Club today.
Rashmi Kumari Ghishing netted eight goals alone, while national team member Manjali Yonjan scored four goals. Menuka Ale Magar completed her hattrick, while Menuka Nagarkote and Manish Rahut netted two goals each.
Likewise, Rajani Thokar, Nisha Thokar and Samriddhi Singh scored one goal apiece for Chandrapur, who registered their second straight victory. Chandrapur had defeated Godavari Municipality 4-0 in the inaugural day match yesterday.
In another match, Bahrabise Municipality beat Godavari Municipality 2-1. Anu Rai put Bahrabise ahead in the 34th minute before Deepa Shahi of Godavari levelled the scores in the 42nd minute. At a time when the match was heading towards the end, Sushma Tamang produced the moment of brilliance to score the winning goal for Bahrabise one minute from time.
Also, Waling Municipality hammered Shambhunath Municipality 11-0. Shanta Nepali scored five goals, while Sarashwoti Hamal netted four goals for Waling. Asmita Ranpal and LM Maskey also got their names in the scoresheet.
A total of 18 teams are taking part in the tournament which is being played under league-cumknockout format. The teams are divided into four pools and winners from all the groups will make it to the semi-finals. The final is slated for June 27.
Top two teams will receive Rs 500,000 and Rs 300,000 respectively.
Likewise, the best player of the tournament will earn Rs 25,000, whereas individual award winners — goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker and coach — will get Rs 10,000 each.
