Baniya wins race

POKHARA: Kalyan Baniya of Gorkha won the title of the Mountain Race organised by Durga Youth Club here on Monday.

Baniya completed the 10km race from Mahendragufa to Armalakot in 44 minutes and 17 seconds to finish first. Subhash Karki of Okhaldhunga came second in 44:38, while Durga Raj Budha of Rukum was third in 44:57. Top three athletes received Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.

A total of 48 athletes took part in the race. Meanwhile, Armala Ghyapri Khola team won the men’s volleyball tournament title beating Nadipur Volleyball Training Centre in final.

Top two teams received Rs 35,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.

Member of Nepal Olympic Committee Tej Bahadur Gurung, President of Ex-Players Forum Khadga Ranabhat and Nepal Basketball Association Jum Prasad Gurung among others handed over the prizes.
