CYC Attariya won the title of the third Ruslan Dhangadhi Premier League here at the proposed Fapla International Stadium today.
Attariya defeated Mahendranagar United by three wickets in the final. Batting first, the United bowled out for 123 runs in their allotted 20 overs before Attariya reached 127-7 with one ball to spare.
Chasing a modest target, Sunny Patel scored a quick fire 47 not out off just 26 balls hitting three each fours and sixes to seal the first title for Attariya. Attariya were reduced to 54-5 in 10 overs before the Indian recruit took charge and took the team home with a six in the penultimate ball of the match.
Openers Gyanendra Kunwar (seven) and Jaykishan Kolsawala put up 31 runs on the board in five overs before the former was bowled by Abinash Bohara. Sundeep Jora (two) fell cheaply and Attariya lost Kolsawala and Rit Gautam at the same score to be 43-4 in 8.3 overs. Kolsawala struck five boundaries in his 27-ball 30. Bhuvan Karki (eight) also failed to score in double figures.
Skipper Dipendra Singh Airee and Patel then revived the innings with a 38-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Airee was bowled by Mohammad Naveed for 17 off 35 balls. Patel and Kamal Singh Airee added 19 runs for the seventh wicket and the Indian cricketer combined with Jitendra Singh Mukhiya (three) to complete the victory adding 15 runs off nine balls for the unbroken eighth wicket.
Mohammad Naveed and Sagar Dhakal took two wickets each for United, while Abinash Bohara and Shahab Alam claimed one each.
Earlier, Dilip Nath top scored for the United with 43 off 41 balls hitting five boundaries and a six, while Kushal Malla scored 22-ball 25 with the help of one four and two sixes. Rohit Kumar Paudel struck one each four and six in his 20-ball 24 before losing his wicket in the last ball of the innings.
Aarif Sheikh (11) and opener Mohammad Naveed (10) also contributed in double figures. United were at stage struggling at 42-4 before Malla and Nath added 51 runs for the fifth wicket to help the team post the fighting total.
Dipendra Rawat (2-11) and Dipendra Singh Airee (2-24) shared four wickets between them, while Sunny Patel took one wicket. Attariya fielders affected five run outs in the match.
With the victory, Attariya also avenged the league round loss against the United. In the match which was reduced to six-over-a-side, United had defeated Attariya by seven wickets. Champions Attariya received three million rupees, while United got Rs 1.2 million. Attariya’s Sunny Patel received three awards — man-of-the-match, player of the series and the best batsman — and earned Rs 300,000. Patel scored 202 runs in six innings and also bagged nine wickets.
Attariya skipper Dipendra Singh Airee was declared the most valuable player of the tournament and he was awarded with Golden Spike Shoe sponsored by Gold Star. Airee scored 168 runs and took ten wickets in the tournament. Attariya clean swept the individual award when Bhuvan Karki was adjudged the best bowler for his 14-wicket haul in the tournament.
