Departmental sides Nepal APF Club and Nepal Police Club advanced to the final of the fourth KNP Japan National Women’s Volleyball Tournament here at the NSC covered hall today.
Defending champions APF outplayed last edition’s runners-up Shivam New Diamond Academy in 3-1 sets, while NPC thrashed Western Regional Volleyball Association in straight sets. The third place and final matches will be played on Tuesday.
In the first semi-final match, APF took the first set 25-18 before NDA bounced back to claim second set 25-21 and levelled the scores. However, APF won the next two sets 25-10 and 25-23 respectively to register a comprehensive victory over NDA, who lacked the services of Kripa Adhikari. The star playmaker, Adhikari joined Nepali Army after she passed the exams of second lieutenant.
In another semi-final encounter, NPC defeated Western Region 25-19, 25-15, 25-22 to set the final date with departmental rivals APF.
Top three teams will get Rs 150,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively, while the best player and winner of Sher Bahadur Khadka Special Award will get Rs 10,000 each.
