Kathmandu, September 13
Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Masamichi Saigo met Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada at the Ministry of Finance (MoF) today and discussed in detail the existing and potential Japanese assistance for socio-economic development of Nepal.
As per the statement issued by the MoF, Minister Khatiwada discussed possibility of support in building a section of East-West Railway through the soft loan of Japanese EXIM Bank.
During the discussion, Ambassador Saigo laid emphasis on the favourable environment to attract foreign investment, including Japanese investment.
The statement further reads that the ambassador requested accelerating the process for exchange of note to repair, maintain and expand the Sindhuli-Bardibas Road that was constructed utilising Japanese assistance.
Some parts of the road were damaged during the earthquakes of 2015.
