‘White Lives Matter’ banner flown above Manchester City’s game with Burnley

Burnley have “strongly condemned” a banner displaying the words “White Lives Matter Burnley”, which was flown above the Etihad Stadium ahead of the club’s Monday night game against Manchester City, and promised lifetime bans for those found to be responsible.

The banner, which was towed by a plane, appeared in the skies above the ground shortly after the game kicked off. Moments earlier the teams and match officials had taken a knee in support of the Black Lives Matter movemet.
